The CDK team will be travelling up to North Yorkshire on Monday morning. We will meet Tim King there (as he lives up North. We will be staying in a local hotel and at 5 am on Tuesday the biggest test for us will commence. It starts almost immediately with the 2,276 ft climb of Pen-y-Ghent.
The Peaks come at different intervals on the challenge and Peak 2 is Ingleborough which is 2,375 ft. We then go past the famous Ribblesdale Viaduct and some 24.5 miles of energy sapping Yorkshire moorland to the last Peak, Whernside, which is 2,414 ft. It is then a few miles to the finish. All this is to be completed in under 12 hours.
Everything has to be right, kit, food, water and the right choice of clothes to wear and take. It’s the perfect final big test for us.
There is no hiding out there, we get it wrong and we will pay dearly. The weather can change in the bat of an eye but the distance and climbs are there regardless.
When we get back home our weight loss will continue as we have targets to reach. Training will also continue as Mount Kilimanjaro will be here very soon.
